Our Record of Success

In the hundreds of websites we've built, there have been lots that have stood out. But they've stood out for lots of reasons. First of all, we're not an agency that seeks recognition from award shows. Sure, they feed the agency model, and they're good for the ego, but they also cost a lot of money and are kind of an old boys club. Phillip's just never gone for that, tho we think he should. (He did win a Lotus a while back, but that's old news).

Anyway, the point is that in building projects, we've got a lot of examples of success, just that they aren't flashy award driven sites. Rather, they're understated and developed for the people they're meant to serve. That might seem like "duh" to some, but that's not the agency model typically.

Take our work with the First Nations Steering Committee. We've designed and built tons of sites for them, but we're really proud of Tekkru, built for Aboriginal youth working in technology. It's meant real connections for Aboriginal youth in remote and rural areas learning about technology. Or the Aboriginal Learning site for  students needing to know about post-secondary. These are flashy sites, they're functional sites for real people.

Still though, we have design chops. Take CLEONet.ca as another example. Built to house Ontario's public legal education information, at a recent law conference when the site was mentioned, 200 people spontaneously broke into applause. Man, that's rewarding. We can't claim all the credit, because our client for that project is amazing, but we built the website!

We also play well with partners. The Genocide Intervention Network, out of Washington D.C. is another great example. Check out StandNow.org, which is against the genocide in Darfur. Built with design partner BIRO creative, it's an amazing example of functionality and design.

Closer to home, Ecotrust's new website is another stunning example of functionality and design. Our client let us know that a funder called him to say he was so impressed and felt so engaged by the website that they granted them a whack of additional funding. That's the kind of record of success that wins the awards we think are important.
